Ryes Second World War Cemetery, Bazenville, Calvados, France
I came across the beautiful Ryes war cemetery during a holiday in July 2008. I was driving east from Bayeux and heading towards Juno landing beach for the day. In the vast expanse of open countryside and fields, this cemetery shone in the mid-morning brilliance of the sun. It really stood out. I just had to stop to look around.
My only regret was not taking enough photographs of the cemetery itself.
The foreground tombstone is the grave of Corporal Eric Edwards 7929713 of the Royal Armoured Corps. who died on 30th June 1944 at the age of 28 years. Grave reference 6 F 10 (VI F 10).
