Concert Photography: Clwb Ifor Bach,  Cardiff.

The Junior Rock Music Academy is a fantastic annual event that encourages young, budding musicians to team up with others to form bands, rehearse covers and to compose and record their own tracks. The project culminates with a gig at Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach for each of the bands to showcase their material to family and friends.

As a parent of one of the performers, I was invited to the two-hour show this year where I seized the opportunity to have another go at concert photography in the dimly lit Clwb Ifor Bach.

My last attempt at concert photography there wasn’t the best and was hapless to say the least: Firewind and Leaves’ Eyes Clwb Ifor Bach.

This time I was armed with a better camera and lens. And, I had prepared the camera to capture images in the near-dark without the use of a flash.

These photographs were taken of the tutors performing an extended rendition of When A Blind Man Cries by Deep Purple.

Three guitar solos, no less.

And of course, I wasn’t the only one there who was taking pictures throughout the show.
