Old Aerial Photo – Maltby, Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Old Aerial Photography of Maltby, Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Vintage aerial photography of Maltby.

This restored aerial image of Maltby, shows Maltby High Street and on it, some notable landmarks like The Don Jon. It clearly shows Low Road containing The Swan public house, and Blyth Road before it was merged with Bawtry Road (Rotherham Road).

The position of the Buttercross monument in the photograph and the merger of Low Road with Bawtry Road dates this image post 1929.

Millindale is visible at the top of the photograph. Braithwell Road is just visible on the left, beneath the canopy of trees.

  1. My dad was born in Maltby in 1945. I am pulling together a book of his life for his 70th and came across your website. He is in the scout photo taken in Maltby! He left the UK in 1958 and now lives in NZ. Is it possible to get a copy of the image or a high enough resolution to be able to print it?
