Sailly-Saillisel British Cemetery was made after the First World War for reburials from the Somme Battlefields.

It contains the graves of 752 British, 12 Australian and 7 Canadian soldiers.

Sailly-Saillisel British Cemetery was designed by the architect Sir Reginald Blomfield. It was constructed and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

  1. It was recently drawn to my attention that a relative of mine fought in WW1 and was killed in action on 1 September 1918. After some research I found he one of the 12 Australian Soldiers buried at the Sailly-Saillisel British Cemetary in France. Although saddened by this, I felt immensely proud and happy he is at rest in this lovely place. We must always remember.
