Maltby War Memorial
Garden Of Remembrance, High Street, Maltby, South Yorkshire
The Garden Of Remembrance was dedicated in 1958 and is situated on Maltby High Street, opposite Maltby Leisure Centre. The garden contains a dedicatory stone of remembrance set upon a stone plinth. The main front plaque states:
THIS GARDEN
IS SACRED TO
THE MEMORY
OF THE FALLEN
1939 – 1945
“THEIR NAME LIVETH
FOR EVERMORE.”
ECCLUS. 44 – 14.
NOVEMBER 1958
Metal plates have also been attached to each side of the stone. The plate on the left side is dedicated to conflicts in:
BORNEO
KOREA
IRELAND
FALKLANDS
And the plaque on the right of the stone commemorates the conflicts in:
MALAYA
SUEZ
CYPRUS
ADEN
A second remembrance stone is set in the earth and can be seen to the left of the entrance gate.
It states:
Garden of Rememberance
This Garden and Memorial Stone was
dedicated on Wednesday 19th September 1984
At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them
